EDUCATION x TheArtSquare
At the heart of the project lies a strong commitment to education and accessibility. Special Special guided visits are organized for schools, inviting teachers and students to discover contemporary art outside the walls of museums and galleries. This art event transforms the public park into an open-air museum of monumental sculpture, where art meets nature and becomes accessible to everyone. The tours encourage dialogue, curiosity, and creativity, offering young people the opportunity to encounter contemporary art aand engage with it.
By bringing art into a public space and organizing activities tailored to different age groups, the initiative seeks to democratize access to culture and make contemporary art part of everyday life. For children and teenagers, it is not only an introduction to the world of artistic creation but also a chance to develop critical thinking and a deeper connection to their environment.
Ultimately, this event is an invitation to explore, to question, and to enjoy monumental sculpture as a collective experience . Through a curated selection of large-scale contemporary artworks, the park becomes a place of discovery, reflection, and shared experience.

HERITAGE DAYS
x TheArtSquare
ART DECO, Roaring Twenties, Crash Years
20 - 21.09.2025
For this 37th edition, Urban will show this artistic movement from a new perspective, as part of the 2025 Art Deco Year. The visitors will not only delve into the movement’s well-known aesthetics and luxury, but also explore its urban, architectural, sociological, and human dimensions.
Under the theme ART DECO – Roaring Twenties, Crash Years, the event will highlight a wide spectrum of buildings, façades, interiors and public spaces; and the Square Armand Steurs is part of this rich and diverse heritage. Designed by Eugène Dhuicque at the dawn of the 1930s, the Square Armand Steurs garden is one of the rare examples of Art Deco public development in the Belgian capital. Despite it being tricky terrain, the architect arranged various decorative elements on different levels, which were to adorn this beautiful esplanade in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. The numerous tree species were chosen by landscape architect Jules-Gustave Janlet. The result: urban design, street furniture and a series of sculptures that reflect the language of the decorative arts in vogue at the time. A visit not to be missed!

BRIGHT FESTIVAL
x TheArtSquare
Since 2023, the association has been taking part in the Bright Brussels festival's off - site programme.
During the festival, an exhibition combining sculpture and light is held in the emblematic Square Armand Steurs in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. The sculptures are transformed by the magical effect of light. Night transforms the sculptures, revealing curves, asperities and reliefs sublimated by the light. Day and night, visitors can explore a new artistic dimension by breaking down the sculptural forms through light and shadow.
